Anabela was born and raised in Lisbon, where she completed her B. Sc. Nursing in 2006. In 2007 she moved to Kilkenny in where she started working as a Nurse in st Luke’s Hospital in the medical and surgical areas. In 2012 she completed her HDip in Midwifery from UCC/CUMH, and in 2013 qualified as Certified Infant Massage Instructor and launched Super Mummy, a provider of baby massage and private antenatal classes. While working as a midwife in St Lukes Hospital, Anabela qualified as International Bord Certified Lactation Consultant in 2017 as well as completing the Professional certificate for examination of the Newborn in UCD in 2018.

Anabela is currently working as part of Integrated Community Midwifery Service in St Luke’s Hospital in the capacity of midwife and lactation consultant. She has a vast experience in antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care but her field of particular interest is towards the natural/physiological approach of the childbearing process and the empowerment of the woman and couple. Alongside her busy life as a mum of 4 (the youngest 2 being twins) Anabela runs Super Mummy and provides antenatal breastfeeding workshops and private breastfeeding/lactation consultations in the area of Carlow/Kilkenny.
