Laura Dennehy

Psychotherapist and Counsellor

 

Laura is a counsellor, psychotherapist and group facilitator. She holds a BA in Sociology and English from U.C.C. Her journey into the mental health field began with an Advanced Certificate in Adlerian Psychology and Counselling Skills from L.I.T. She completed her counselling training with Cork Counselling Services Training Institute and has since undertaken the Diploma in Integrative Adolescent Psychotherapy with the Greenane Centre in Tipperary. She completed her training hours in the University of Limerick Counselling Department and loved the work with students there.

 

Laura worked with Inform Psychological Services as Business Manager, & then therapist, for a number of years. She is now working in private practice in Clonmel, along with her work with the E.P.T. Clinic.

Laura has facilitated suicide awareness training, schools mental health workshops, fostering support workshops, to name but a few. Her core training is humanistic integrative psychotherapy. She works with a variety of approaches, depending on the individual client. C.B.T., solution-focussed therapy and mindfulness all play a role in Laura’s work. Following training with Deb Dana in 2020, Laura has developed a particular interest in polyvagal theory and has found it hugely empowering for clients of all ages. She has also completed the certificate in Understanding Autism with I.C.E.P.

Laura is a mother of two from Tipperary. She loves hiking, dancing, music and sea-swimming. She is passionate about supporting clients to live a healthy and fulfilling life, even in the most difficult of circumstances. Laughter plays an important part in her work, as well as everyday life!
