Nessa Farrell

Assistant Psychologist

Trainee Educational Psychologist

Nessa began her career as a primary school teacher graduating with a Bachelor of Education from St. Patricks College (Dublin City University) in 2009. Following this she spent a year completing a Masters of Science in Business Management where she completed research about the use of assistive technology in schools to help promote learning. She has over 12 years of primary teaching experience in both Ireland and the United Arab Emirates and has worked across mainstream and specialist settings. During this time she became fascinated with the learning of children, their communication styles, stages of development along with their social and emotional strengths and needs. She placed a huge emphasis on the importance of differentiating work in order to support students and help them reach their potential.

It was from her experiences and knowledge developed as a teacher that Nessa decided to pursue a career in Psychology. She graduated with a Higher Diploma in Arts of Psychology in Dublin Business School in 2019 where she completed research on the impact online gaming had on young students’ mental health. She is currently a second-year student on the Doctorate of Educational Psychology programme in University College Dublin and has gained experience working in the National Educational Psychological Service, HSE Children’s Disability Network Teams and with the HSE Primary Care Psychology team. She hopes to complete her research on the experiences of young people in receipt of additional support in mainstream schools in Ireland.

Nessa has a huge passion for sport and graduated with a Distinction in Sports Psychology from The Open College Dublin in 2021. She enjoys playing hockey and camogie and helping out with teams in the locality in her free time.
